Meet the Team

Dr. Matt Roberts

Dr. Roberts attended Texas A&M University from 1974 to 1977 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology.   After graduating from Texas A&M Dr. Roberts then attended and graduated from the University of Texas Dental School San Antonio in 1981.  Upon graduation from dental school he then moved to Crockett and took over the practice of long time Crockett resident Dr. Lyle Thomasson, where he has practiced since 1981.  Upon beginning his dental practice Dr. Roberts became actively involved in the Texas Dental Association, while also starting a family and raising two children with his wife Nancy.  In addition to local leadership positions as past president of both the Jordan School Board (now the Vista Academy), the Crockett Rotary Club and past treasurer for both his local and state 4H shooting sports programs Dr. Roberts has also held the leadership positions of his local dental society-the Brazos Valley District Dental Society.   These have included the Secretary/Treasurer position, the President-elect position and Presidents’ position. Dr. Roberts has also served on the TDA political action committee board and has been instrumental in legislative action at both the state and national levels.  Dr. Roberts also served on the Texas Dental Association Board of directors from 2003 thru 2006 and became President of the Association in 2009.  He looks forward to continuing to serve the patients of Crockett, Houston County and the surrounding area.

    Denise Gunnels

            Denise is our registered Dental Hygienist and a member of the team since 1986.  

            She takes care of our offices continuing care appointments.  Her job

            involves maintenance of our patients oral health needs which include cleanings,

            oral hygiene instructions and recommendations for continuing care once our patients

            leave the office.  Denise is married to Richard Gunnels and together they have raised

            two children- Richard Arlon Gunnels and Case Gunnels.  She enjoys outdoor activities

            such as hunting, photography and gardening. 

                Melinda Kuta

            Melinda is Dr. Roberts' dental assistant.  She is a new employee as of June 3, 2020. 

            She replaces Carol Patrick who recently retired. Melinda is married to Steven Spellman

            and is the mother to 8yr old Makynlee.  She is a lover of animals and enjoys reading 

            and spending time with family and close friends.

            Candace Catoe is Dr. Roberts’ Administrative Assistant.  She manages patient scheduling,                                                                                billing and insurance.  Candace is married to Joseph Catoe, and they have resided in Houston                                                                          County for approximately twenty years.  Together, they have four grown children, two                                                                                      beautiful daughter in laws, one son in law and a grandson that runs the show.  She considers                                                                          time spent with her family; time very well spent.  She enjoys fresh cut flowers, sushi,  a good                                                                          Bible study, zoo trips, and her Maine Coon Cats.  Candi joined the dental team August 1rst 2020.
